How to Transfer SBI Account Online?

Do you want to transfer SBI Account from one branch to another? The facility for transferring the SBI account is available online. You need not visit a bank, stand in queue and fill up forms for transferring account. It can be done anytime, anywhere using the internet. You just need an internet banking ID of the SBI account. Things to consider before transferring account

The option of transferring a bank account is available only for saving bank account which is KYC compliant. This facility is not available for inoperative bank accounts.

You need to have SBI Net banking facility for transferring SBI bank account. Additionally, you should have the branch code where you need to transfer your bank account. You can get branch code information online via SBI branch locator. If you have problem in getting correct information you can call to branch and ask for branch code.

You should have access to net banking. The online transfer process can be done if your mobile number is registered with a bank.

How to Transfer SBI Account Online?

  1. Visit the official website of SBI – www.onlinesbi.sbi Go to the personal banking section and login using your internet banking username and password.
  2. You will be able to see the home page with navigation and menu on the screen. Click on ‘e-services’ tab from top menu.
  3. Click on ‘Transfer of saving account’ from the quick links. This link is available on the left side of the page.
  4. Select the account that you want to transfer to other SBI branch.
  5. You need to enter the branch code where you want to transfer the account. If you don’t have a branch code visit Branch Locator to get the details.
  6. Read terms and conditions and click on the submit button.
  7. Make sure to verify all your account details with existing branch code and new branch code.
  8. On confirmation, OTP will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number.
  9. Enter the OTP along with a high-security password and click on the confirm button.

A new page will open showing ‘Your branch transfer request has been successfully registered’.

If you have more than one account to transfer you can use CIF to transfer the account. CIF is known as Customer Information File number. CIF contains details of all accounts of the account holder.

The transfer process takes about one week. The new branch name can be viewed after logging to Net Banking account.  

The account number and CIF number will remain the same on transfer your bank account. However, IFSC code will change along with branch. This means if you have given IFSC code at other places like mutual fund investment, ECS standing instruction for a home loan or for your Income tax refund you need to revise it with new IFSC Code.
