Taxpayer can now e-verify ITR using DEMAT and bank account

The Income tax department recently has introduced two additional modes of Electronic Verification of ITR. Now you will be able to verify your ITR by giving DEMAT or bank account details to income tax website. Details about additional modes of generation of EVC is given below.

By Giving Bank Details to e-filing website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Under this option, a facility to pre-validated Bank account details will be provided to the assessee under Profile Settings menu in e-filing website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

  • The tax payer has to provide following bank account details.
  1. Bank Account Number
  2. IFSC Code
  3. Email ID
  4. Mobile Number
  • These details provided by taxpayer along with PAN and name as per e-filing database will be validated against the details of taxpayer registered with the bank.
  • On successful pre-validation assessee can opt for “Generate EVC using Bank Account details option” for verification of ITR.
  • Generated EVC shall be sent to taxpayers email id and/or mobile number verified from the bank.

By Giving DEMAT account details to e-filing website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Under this option, EVC will be generated after DEMAT account authentication using demat details registered with NSDL, CDSL Data base. A facility to pre-validated Demat account details will be provided to assessee under Profile Settings menu in e-filing website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

  • The tax payer has to provide following Demat account details.
  1. Demat Account Number
  2. Email ID
  3. Mobile Number
  • These details provided by taxpayer along with PAN and name as per e-filing database will be validated against the details of taxpayer registered with NSDL/CDSL.
  • On successful pre-validation assessee can opt for “Generate EVC using Demat Account details option” for verification of ITR.
  • Generated EVC shall be sent to taxpayers email id and/or mobile number verified from NSDL/CDSL.

The other modes of generating Electronic Verification Code and e-verifying your Income tax Return (ITR) are Aadhar Card and OTP, Net banking, ATM, E-filing website.
